Great Cover Debate

Time Out are 40!

 

I see Time Out magazine have an exhibition on at the Museum of London. It’s to celebrate their 40th birthday and there should be over 200 covers on display. I dug out an old copy I have when it was their 20th birthday. They reproduced nearly all their covers inside a bumper issue, with Paul McCartney writing on the sixties, Vivienne Westwood on life in the seventies and Julie Burchill on her time in the eighties. Stirring stuff. They have done a lot of good covers though. I always liked City Limits, but that’s another blog.

FYi Magazine

Excitingly, we’ve just gone to press on the first issue of a new title for the MDDUS called FYi.

The magazine is aimed at young doctors in their Foundation Years – a 2 year period of placement which all doctors are obliged to do post university – and was intended as a publicity tool to help with uptake of MDDUS membership.

Looking at some of the literature that is targeted at this group, it seemed as though there was a wide gap between dry and dusty yawn-inducing material and publications which had taken the ‘young audience’ part to heart and strayed into blue peter territory!
